Involvement Centre

2023

Opening our Involvement Centre in February 2023 was a big growth step for GAiN UK and enabled us to welcome in hundreds of volunteers, create more efficient systems, and form new partnerships with charities across the UK. By the end of the year we were partnering with 37 different charities supporting refugees and people in poverty in the UK and we estimate that we were able to impact around 50,000 people in the UK through our Involvement Centre!

Our Involvement Centre meant that we were able to send lots more aid around the world to our partners in Serbia, Ukraine, and Turkey, shipping out goods to the value of £65,000, including winter clothing, bedding, and food for people in war-zones, natural disasters, and long-term poverty.

"Thank you for continuing your commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of those in need. Some of the boys who attend our school football club are now fully equipped to take part in the session and their growth in confidence has been noted. They feel like everybody else, now they have football boots just like their peers."

Joy at fresh, clean water in Benin

2024

In 2023, GAiN UK joined with GAiN Worldwide in supporting our Water for Life Initiative, which has been providing rural villages with wells for fresh water since 2002. We do this by drilling 50-80 metres down, tapping onto the water supply and setting up a deep-capped well. Alongside the construction, GAiN provides training on hygiene and sanitation practices, gender sensitivity and community health.

In the second year of the project in the UK, we were able to fund our first well, thanks to some generous donors. Not only that, but we sent a group of people to Benin and they had the privilege of laying the concrete pad for this well’s foundation.  They were also able to help in every stage of the process in different villages, from digging, to drilling, laying the foundation, flushing the well and finishing a complete well.

"Our trip to Benin with GAiN was a profound and humbling experience. Being there to help install a well that would provide clean water felt like such a simple thing for us, yet it meant everything to the community. I’ll never forget the joy in their eyes as the well opened – seeing the women gather water, hearing their songs, their praises, and their dancing. It was as if hope had finally arrived in the form of water, something so essential that we often take for granted."

2025 update – disaster response in Gaza

Around two million people in the Gaza Strip are dependent on humanitarian aid. That’s almost the entire population. The supply of essential items like water, medicine, and basic foodstuff remains critical, regardless of any peace efforts.

Given the complex and dynamic situation in the Middle East, GAiN has been working hard to find a trustworthy partner who can provide emergency aid to the people in the Gaza Strip and personally deliver relief supplies. We have found such a partner*, one who is motivated to work for the restoration, reconciliation, and rebuilding of Gaza.

GAiN is one of very few NGOs allowed to bring relief supplies into the Gaza Strip and we are grateful for this opportunity to serve.

Since October 2025, GAiN and our partner* have transported more than 2,500 tons of aid (84 trucks) to the Gaza Strip, including food items such as flour, vegetables, sugar and beans. Further aid deliveries are set to arrive regularly. Milk powder is currently the greatest need. But shelf-stable foods such as pasta, rice, canned goods, salt and energy bars are also urgently needed.

Our local partners on both the Israeli and Palestinian sides coordinate the distribution to more than 20,000 people in the Khan Yunis region. GAiN has also officially launched a humanitarian field kitchen in Khan Yunis, where it prepares and distributes hot meals to up to 10,000 people daily. All meals are cooked fresh on site and delivered directly to families affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis, ensuring lifesaving support.

Our plan is to continue sending aid into Gaza, aiming to send at least 10 shipments every month in the new year. You can find out more about how you can support those in need via the link below.
