GAiN UK Turns 5 & Leadership Handover

2014 was a big year for me personally and for the development of GAiN UK. It was the year that we sent our first student volunteer team to Haiti, it was the year I got married and it was during this year that we signed the agreement to establish GAiN in the UK.

The following year, in May 2015, we launched the UK office for GAiN as the official humanitarian arm of Agapé UK. From the beginning our vision was to be a network of people in the UK, mobilised together to help with heart and hand. Together with those around us, we wanted to consider what resources we had in our hands and how our own values and beliefs (our hearts) are reflected when putting them into tangible action. By considering these things we wanted to explore how our own personal beliefs play out in the use of our resources.

Here’s a whistle stop tour through the years that followed the launch of our UK office:

Five years on and 2020 has become a significant year for us all as well as us personally as a family, as I will be expecting our first child in a couple of months.

It is at this moment that I am able to hand over the reins of leading GAiN to my good friend Frikkie Greyling who will be taking this five-year-old little toddler into it’s next season of growth! I am delighted that Frikkie is stepping into this role as I have seen his deep heart for people shine through since he first went with GAiN to a refugee camp in Greece.

Sarah has been with GAiN UK since the very beginning. After working for Agape UK, Sarah established the Global Aid Network’s British office and has been the UK director for the past 5 years.
