When families choose to flee their homes to escape the terrors of war, this is not an easy choice. To leave everything they have known and worked for, for an uncertain future. For many of them the decision to flee is just the beginning of their traumatic journey to safety and so often the conditions that they are met with are far from providing them with the shelter and supplies that they need to survive.
Over the last twelve months we have seen the situation in Syria and Iraq escalate to unimaginable levels that has forced thousands of people to be displaced many of them moving multiple times before crossing into an area of relative safety. In seeing the desperate needs of these families, mostly women and children, GAiN has been able to work through local partners and churches in the bordering nations to bring help and hope through emergency aid and family visits.
In both Jordan, Lebanon and Northern Iraq we have delivered aid and brought an opening for those who have lost everything they own to find people who will care and listen to their stories.
This is by no means over and the approaching colder winter months are only going to make the situation of millions of refuges so much harder.
